I'm actually still alive~

Hi everypony... Um, well, I've been really busy recently. My previous job that gave me soooo much free time while I was at work being a placeholder ended, and then I spent two weeks playing Fallout 3 and sleeping. Then I started a new job two weeks ago and dear gods has it really been like a MONTH since I posted? Anyway I've been working a lot and sleeping once in a while, plus a lot of driving and some Dungeons and Dragons.

I'm working on ideas for my next Actual Post, which I think will be about the representation of transgenderism (is that a word? Spellcheck says no.) in manga, probably focusing on Kashimashi, Wandering Son, and Ranma 1/2. If anyone knows of any other manga that touch on transgender themes at all, please let me know. Research is good... So is new reading material.

Adsense is a scam

I probably should have seen this coming. But it was still a shock when my Google Adsense account was disabled Saturday evening, and all the money I had earned from my site was taken away.

Sunday, April 15, 2012

Well, that sucks.

I'm not sure why, but my Adsense account has been disabled. I've entered an appeal, but from what I've read they usually do not reinstate disabled accounts. *headdesk*

Radical Feminism and the 'Transsexual Empire'

Yesterday, I received the latest issue of the Lesbian Connection magazine, and promptly canceled my subscription.

I have always identified, at least partially, as lesbian. As my sexuality blossomed in my teenage years and as I began transitioning two years ago, I began to open myself to the possibility of sex with men, but throughout this time I have defined myself as primarily preferring women. Thus, when I began to transition and present as female, I was excited to finally feel that I had the right to include myself in women-only circles. Boy, was that a mistake.

Book Review ~ Fallout Equestria by Kkat

War. War never changes. But ponies do, apparently.

Fallout Equestria starts off in a very similar vein to Fallout 3. The heroine, LittlePip, whose cutie mark is a PipBuck personal computer thing (which she compares to having a cutie mark of a cutie mark), leaves the Stable where she was born to find the missing Velvet Remedy. What follows is an epic adventure through the Equestria Wasteland as LittlePip discovers the magic of friendship and overpowered weaponry.

There is, of course, tons of fanart. Isn't she cute~! Source

(lol I made a pun with the post title)

First and foremostly I'd like to thank everyone who has been clicking the ads. At this point in my life I need to be making moneys however I can... stupid debt... stupid surgery... blckgh. *dies*

I'm going to be doing two things going forward. Firstly, I'm going to be setting up an Amazon affiliate account. After I do so, any time you order something on Amazon after going to it from my blog, I will earn a percentage of the purchase price. It doesn't add any cost for you, but I figure it could help me a bit. It also doesn't have to be a product I've linked directly to, it can be anything sold by Amazon. I think. I'm not entirely sure how the whole thing works.

Second, once a month I am going to issue a report stating how much I have earned through ad clicks and through Amazon affiliates. Your clicks really do make a difference, significantly more than just a couple cents per click. This money will be put in a savings account specifically for the purpose of transition-related expenses, specifically GCS (genital correction surgery, if you didn't know the acronym). So every ad click you do puts me a little bit closer to my goal~!

I've also opened up comments to non-registered users. We'll see how that goes; if I get a lot of trolls or spammers I'll go back to registered only. But registering for stuff is a pain in the flank.

Also... the more I type 'click,' the less the word makes any sense... click click click click click...

Pittsburgh Name Change Instructions

My name change went through last week with no problems whatsoever~! In honor of that event, I'm going to put together a list of instructions for changing your name in Pittsburgh, and probably most of Pennsylvania.

My Little Pony ~ A look at a couple of current projects

Hey again, everyone. Or maybe for this post I should say 'everypony.'

As many of you may know, I'm a pretty big fan of My Little Pony. For some reason, the candy-colored equines have wormed their way into the coldest recesses of my twisted black heart. *cough*

Oh, Rainbow Dash. <3

As the show prepares to wind down it's second season, the fan community is just getting started. Many bronies (fans of the show, for those of you who are not yet part of the herd) have applied their creative energy to the community in the form of fanfics, music, art, crafts, even video games!

What I'd like to talk about today is a couple of book projects that are currently going on, namely Past Sins and Fallout Equestria. I must admit that I have never been a huge fan of fanfics; the only one I follow regularly is Misfiled Dreams, which ties into the Misfile comic series. But when I learned that a group of bronies were going to have an actual hardcopy book published, I couldn't help but take interest.

What is in a name?

OK, this post is for all you trans people. Or at least PA trans people. The information in here might not work for everyone. But anyway.

A big step for a lot of us is changing our names. Out of all the trans people I've met, only one had no desire to change their name as part of transition. But that is often easier said than done. Luckily for myself and my local friends, Pittsburgh tends to be a bit more progressive than the area between it and Philadelphia.

In my own transition process, I waited a lot longer to change my name than many people. Finances and cold feet held me back for quite a while, as did the normal drama that seems to come with transitioning. But finally, a couple of months ago, I filed the paperwork, and my hearing was set for the 28th of this month.

But anyway. On to the actual process.

First Impressions ~ Mass Effect 3

Ok, so, wow. I probably should not stay up late playing video games the night before driving to my hometown and back and then going to a party... But OMD, so totally worth it!

I finally finished the DLC for Mass Effect 2 last night, and I must say I'm happy with how they tied everything together. Arrival was very dark, and I can imagine it will have some interesting ramifications on Shepard's mission in ME3. It was about midnight at this point and I really probably should have just gone to bed, but that shiny metal case was calling to me...

Book Review ~ Between Gears by Natalie Nourigat

Hey all. Time for my first review thing.

The Daily Grind

Today I started my new temp job! I'm working for a company called Pacific Pulmonary Services out in Wexford, PA. It's about a half-hour drive from my apartment, and it's relatively easy receptionist-type work. Being that my job consists of answering the telephone and emails, I anticipate a lot of free time... So since I can't work on my art, I'm going to write!

This blog will consist of a few different types of entries. Most prominent will be reviews of the various media I encounter. Books, comics, movies, games, music... Whatever I come across. It doesn't all have to be new either. I might do this week's new release one time, and something from the 80s or 90s the next. I'm going to try to focus on more obscure media, but I'm sure I'll touch on mainstream things as well. Mass Effect 3, for instance, has my thumbs itching!

The other type of entry that I'd like to focus on is more informational in nature. Information particularly on being a broke transsexual in Pittsburgh (or wherever I happen to live at the time). If that's not your thing... well, skip those posts. But I think it's something that needs to be out there. And I hope I can do my trans* brothers and sisters some good.
